"Lisabi" brings to life the legendary story of Lisabi, a revered Yoruba hero whose defiance against the oppressive Oyo Empire in the 18th century marked a significant turning point in Nigerian history. The drama captures the essence of this fabled figure, an Egba farmer who courageously led a rebellion against the Oyo Empire.

By uniting fellow farmers and harnessing his mysterious abilities, Lisabi's uprising led to the defeat of over 6,000 Oyo soldiers, ultimately securing Egba's independence after centuries of subjugation. "Lisabi: The Uprising" joins other significant titles such as Femi Adebayo’s "Jagun Jagun," Kunle Afolayan’s "Anikulapo: The Rise of The Spectre," and Bolanle Austen-Peters’ "House of Ga’a," signaling a powerful shift towards epic storytelling in Nigerian cinema.

Produced by Lateef Adedimeji and directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, "Lisabi" boasts a star-studded cast, including Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Itele Yekini, Ibrahim Chatta, Mo Bimpe, Eniola Ajao, Liquorose Afije, and Adedimeji himself. The collaboration between Al Notions Studios and Anthill Studios, with a script penned by Niyi Akinmolayan and Yinka Olaoye, ensures that the film not only entertains but also reconnects audiences with their heritage.

As viewers around the globe anticipate the debut of "Lisabi" on Netflix, the film’s entry into the streaming giant’s collection further emphasizes Netflix’s dedication to showcasing diverse and culturally significant stories. The arrival of "Lisabi: The Uprising" is more than just a film release; it is a celebration of Yoruba history, culture, and the enduring legacy of a hero who forever changed the course of his people’s destiny.
